La Soufrière Volcano and Sulphur Springs Park

La Soufrière Volcano and Sulphur Springs Park is 2 mi. (3.2 km) s.e. The 25-acre (10-hectare) park contains a high-temperature geothermal system that last erupted in 1766. A road winds alongside hot pools that bubble and steam with sulfurous gases, and cars were once allowed to enter the crater—hence the park's nickname, “the world's only drive-in volcano.” An interpretive center features information about the volcano that erupted and collapsed here some 40,000 years ago, forming a crater 8 miles (13 km) wide. Visitors can bathe in either the mineral-rich Black Water Pool at 101 degrees Fahrenheit or the Pool of Love at 88 degrees Fahrenheit.
