Catedral de San Juan Bautista

Catedral de San Juan Bautista is at 151 Calle Cristo. Built in 1521 and damaged repeatedly by the elements, the present structure is the result of several restorations. The cathedral is a rare example of New World medieval architecture, featuring a circular staircase, vaulted ceilings, 16th-century chalices, the relic of San Pio and a Renaissance madonna. The marble tomb of Juan Ponce de León rests near the transept.
