AAA Editor Notes
St. Vincent Botanical Gardens is just s. of Fort Charlotte. Founded in 1762, the 20-acre (8-hectare) gardens are considered the oldest in the Western Hemisphere. Lush with tropical palms, lilies, hibiscus and bougainvillea, the gardens are home to Captain Bligh's breadfruit tree, grown from the original plant, along with such unusual trees as the flowering cannonball and the sealing wax palm. Also at the gardens is the Nicholas Wildlife Aviary Complex housing the rare St. Vincent parrot, and an archeology museum.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
