Guajataca State Forest (Bosque Estatal de Guajataca) is e. on Rte. 2, then s. on Rte. 446. In the “karst country” of northwest Puerto Rico, where underground limestone dissolves into sinkholes, tunnels and caves, Guajataca (wa-ha-TA-ka) encompasses more than 25 miles of hiking trails through this unusual topography. A walking map is available at the ranger station, and an observation tower provides a scenic view of man-made Guajataca Lake. Cueva de Viento (Wind Cave) features dramatic formations of stalactites and stalagmites.
