Fort Hamilton

Fort Hamilton is e. on Happy Valley Rd. This well-preserved coral fortress was built during the American Civil War to prevent blockade running; the underground passageways and large cannons are noteworthy. A semitropical garden occupies the moat. The Bermuda Islands Pipe Band performs Monday at noon November through March. Picnicking is permitted on the lawn, which offers a fine view of Hamilton, Paget and Warwick parishes and the harbor.
