NATIONAL PARKCape Breton Highlands National Park Cape Breton Highlands National Park has entrances on the Cabot Trail 5 kilometres (3 mi.) northeast of Chéticamp on the west side of the island and at Ingonish Beach on the east. The park is in the northern part of Cape Breton Island. Bounded on the west by the Gulf of St. Lawrence and on the east by the Atlantic Ocean, the park protects 950 square kilometres (366 sq. mi.) of highlands and coastal wilderness. The first national park in the Atlantic provinces, it bears a striking resemblance to coastal regions of Scotland.
NATIONAL PARKForillon National Park Forillon National Park (Parc national Forillon) encompasses 244 square kilometres (95 sq. mi.) on the northeast tip of the Gaspé Peninsula and is accessible from Gaspé via Hwy. 132 E. Jagged seaside cliffs, capes, pebbled beach coves, fir covered highlands and ocean terraced lowlands typify park scenery. Of sedimentary origin, geologic formations contain rocks ranging in age from the Ordovician to the Devonian periods.
NATIONAL PARKFort Beausejour Fort Cumberland National Historic Site Fort Beauséjour—Fort Cumberland National Historic Site is at 111 Fort Beauséjour Rd. in the village of Aulac, 8 kilometres (5 mi.) east of Sackville via Hwy. 2 (exit 513A) and 1.5 kilometres (.9 mi.) west of the Nova Scotia border. Built in 1751 in response to the construction of an English fort at Beaubassin a year earlier, Fort Beauséjour defended French interests along the Isthmus of Chignecto.
NATIONAL PARKFortress Of Louisbourg National Historic Site On Cape Breton Island, 35 kilometres (22 mi.) south of Sydney on Hwy. 22 beyond the modern town of Louisbourg, the 6,000-hectare (14,826-acre) Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site includes a reconstruction of the massive fortress erected by the French 1720-45 to defend their colonies.

NATIONAL PARKKejimkujik National Park And National Historic Site Off Hwy. 8 at Maitland Bridge, Kejimkujik (ke-jim-KOO-jik) National Park and National Historic Site encompasses 381 square kilometres (147 sq. mi.) in the southwestern region of Nova Scotia. The park's gently rolling landscape is broken by numerous lakes connected by rivers.
NATIONAL PARKKouchibouguac National Park Kouchibouguac National Park is entered from hwys. 11 or 134, just south of the village of Kouchibouguac. The park covers 238 square kilometres (92 sq. mi.) on New Brunswick's central eastern shore. Molded by the sea, this portion of the Maritime Plain is a blend of coastal and land habitats—rivers, sand dunes, salt marshes, bogs, lagoons, fields, forests—each with its own characteristic flora and fauna.
NATIONAL PARKMingan Archipelago National Park Reserve Mingan Archipelago National Park Reserve (Réserve de parc national de l'Archipel-de-Mingan) consists of a group of 1,000 islands off the north shore of the St. Lawrence Gulf and is accessible by boat from Longue-Pointe-de-Mingan and Havre-St-Pierre. The archipelago, which is north of Anticosti Island (Île d'Anticosti) in the Jacques Cartier Strait, stretches about 150 kilometres (93 mi.) and was formed mostly from sedimentary rock. Erosion by the sea has resulted in spectacular rock formations; the monoliths are the most popular.
