The Santa Fe Scenic Byway is the perfect afternoon drive to just get out of town or to head out to hike, picnic or camp. The 15-mph speed limit on the two-lane SR 475 means there's no rushing around the meandering curves on your way to the top loop. If you’re there in the fall, you’ll be treated to the splendor of the gold aspen trees.

Artist Road ascends the neighborhoods out of Santa Fe before turning into Hyde Park Road (and then SR 475) with an unobstructed view of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. You’ve soon left suburbia behind after crossing Little Tesuque Creek on your climb through Hyde Memorial State Park to more than 8,000 feet above sea level.
