The route cuts through a number of national and state treasures, so you’re in store for some awe-inspiring scenery—from sun-kissed pine, spruce and fir forests to dusty castles of sandstone and scarlet-hued rock walls.

Dramatic vistas abound on Utah's All-American National Scenic Byway 12. Sweeping overlooks and switchbacks reveal the splendor of several protected areas, including Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, a rugged expanse about the size of the state of Delaware. Another showstopper is Boulder Mountain, one of the country’s largest high-elevation plateaus.
