Experience expansive vistas in every direction as you travel the Mt. Wilson Backcountry Scenic Byway (US 93). Mountain ranges are visible on both sides across vast plains of scrub brush and juniper pines. The route takes you from the former mining town of Ely to the ghost town of Crystal Springs, passing the stunning Cathedral Gorge State Park along the way.

The center of scenic US 93 passes Cathedral Gorge State Park, where erosion of the Panaca Formation has formed a fascinating landscape. The rest of the route crosses an unspoiled desert landscape framed by distant mountain ranges dappled with juniper pines. Wildlife includes black-tailed jackrabbits, coyotes and roadrunners.
