Spanning the northern boundary of Olympic National Park on the Olympic Peninsula, this scenic section of US 101—the majority of which is two lanes—showcases many of western Washington’s natural treasures. To the south lie the rugged, glacier-capped mountains of the Olympic Mountain Range; to the west, pristine Lake Crescent.

Olympic National Park and Forest provide the elegant wooded backdrop for this scenic byway. At the halfway point, US 101 hugs the southern shore of 12-mile-long Lake Crescent, a deep freshwater lake carved by glaciers. A 1-mile trail at the midpoint of the lake leads through thick rainforests to 90-foot Marymere Falls.
