Seasonal route: The road is subject to closure in winter. Soak up views of rugged mountain peaks and the Nooksack River along Mount Baker Highway (SR 542), which takes you into the northern reaches of Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Expect sharp curves and steep grades as you climb more than 3,000 feet to the road’s terminus at Artist Point. In winter, the byway ends at Mount Baker Ski Area.
