The journey on US 6 through eastern Connecticut consists of rolling hills, thick forests, stately homes and quiet farm towns. A section of the old Boston Post Road, this two-lane highway skirts the James L. Goodwin State Forest which blazes with color in the fall.
You’ll see Connecticut at its prettiest along this scenic route, especially in autumn months when leaves are awash in orange and yellow hues. Colonial-style homes and quaint small towns break up the drive between Mansfield and Brooklyn. The road skirts Mansfield Hollow State Park, where a 500-acre lake allows boating, fishing and canoeing.
