The Palisades Interstate Scenic Parkway takes a winding path through New Jersey, paralleling the Hudson River, and ends at the New York border. Designed as an oasis of green in the urban New York metro area, this four-lane divided highway cuts through heavily forested areas, frequently isolating the stretch of road you are on from all else.

The George Washington Bridge marks the beginning of the Palisades Interstate Scenic Parkway. The Hudson River parallels the route, but you won’t get a good view of it if due to the dense forestland, so take advantage of Alpine Lookout. Pull off the road here for a nice scenic view of the river as well as New York beyond it.
