Much of this I-64 excursion traverses George Washington National Forest. Blanketing the Allegheny Mountain range with hardwood and hemlocks, the forest covers more than a million acres. When you need a rest, you'll find plenty of conveniently located picnic areas as well as peaceful off-road retreats with bubbling streams and quiet ponds.
