Travel a region of lakes and farmland known as Sunset Country on the Great River Road/Voyageur Route. In every season, this byway delivers a host of beautiful natural scenery. Richly diverse forests burst with orange and red leaves in the fall, between tall pines that become draped with snowy mantles in the winter. Summertime brings activity on Lake of the Woods.

This byway winds through pine and birch woods on rocky, rolling terrain amid lakes carved from the Canadian Shield's pink and gray granite in the last ice age. Near Sioux Narrows is an arm of the Lake of the Woods, once a thoroughfare for canoeing voyageurs. Nestor Falls, dropping 40 feet between Lake Kakabikichiwan and Sabaskong Bay, is visible from an overlook.
