Head north into Ontario’s backwoods by way of Trans-Canada Highway 11, known as the Frontier Route, for a scenic journey past clear ponds and rivers sprinkled among vast stands of red and white pines. Cut into the gently rolling, rocky terrain of the Temagami region, the road leads to fishing lodges tucked away along the shores of out-of-the-way lakes.

Trans-Canada Highway 11 (aka the Frontier Route) passes through the Temagami region, an area known for outdoor recreation centered on Lake Temagami and its countless secluded inlets and islands. The route traces an arm of the lake near Finlayson Point Provincial Park, which occupies a spit of land almost surrounded by water, a perfect spot for canoeing, boating and fishing.
