This two-lane, narrow road leisurely meanders up the face of Waiaka Ridge, ending at the junction with SR 550 and the stunning overlook for Waimea Canyon, also known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. Kokee Scenic Road has numerous turnouts en route that allow you to stop and enjoy the sprawling vistas.
Kokee Scenic Road begins at the rugged coastline near Kekaha Beach Park, bisects Kekaha, travels through agricultural land and ascends rugged hills dappled with trees and native shrubbery. The rich red clay soil is a stark contrast to the green foliage. A few hairpin and zigzag turns offer new scenery as you travel over cliffs and through valleys.
