Venture into the Arctic Circle on James Dalton Highway, one of America’s most isolated highways. SR 11 is a mostly gravel road running parallel to the Trans-Alaska pipeline through wooded marshlands and the rugged Brooks Range. Near Prudhoe Bay the route levels out on a vast, treeless plain. NOTE: Bring survival supplies, and rugged vehicles are encouraged.

Originally a haul road for the paralleling Trans-Alaska pipeline, the James Dalton Highway takes you across diverse terrain to the Prudhoe Bay oil fields and vast wetlands. View mountains and valleys from soaring heights on SR 11 through the Brooks Range. North of Slope Mountain, continuous permafrost creates a treeless landscape in the plains region.
