AAA Editor Notes
Tombstone Territorial Park is 71 km (44 mi.) n. of jct. Dempster and Klondike hwys. This park spans an area of more than 2,164 square kilometres (836 sq. mi.) and features a diversity of wildlife and bird species as well as a variety of vegetation. This is a remote park with few established hiking trails, but there are accessible portions off the highway that offer short hikes and challenging backpacking and ridge walking excursions. The park's arctic tundra environment creates a landscape with spectacular views. The interpretive center offers campfire programs, guided walks and hikes and special events.

Note: When traveling to the park have enough gas and spare tires since there are no roadside services available until Eagle Plains, which is 369 kilometres (229 mi.) north of the Klondike Highway. Once in the park, be aware that it is an isolated and potentially hazardous environment. Rough terrain, drastic weather changes and encounters with wildlife are factors to consider. Use leave-no-trace etiquette when hiking and travel lightly on this sensitive environment.

Time: Allow 3 hours minimum.
