Science and Learning Center at Coldwater

Science and Learning Center at Coldwater is off I-5 exit 49, then 43 mi. e. on SR 504 (Spirit Lake Memorial Hwy.) to Milepost 43. The center sits atop a ridge offering spectacular views of the Upper Toutle River Valley, Coldwater Lake, Johnston Ridge and the crater and lava dome of Mount St. Helens, 7 miles in the distance. Two trails are located near the building. The .25-mile paved Winds of Change Trail traverses part of the Mount St. Helens blast zone while the Elk Bench and Lakes trails lead to Coldwater Lake and Mount Margaret's Backcountry.
