Beacon Rock is 3.5 mi. w. on SR 14 in Beacon Rock State Park. The andesite rock core of an extinct volcano, it is one of the largest geological formations of its kind in North America. A 1.8-mile trail with 52 switchbacks and bridges winds to the top of the 848-foot monolith. From the summit there's an excellent view of the Columbia Gorge.
The park has 26 miles of roads and trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding.
