Prestwould Plantation

Prestwould Plantation is 2 mi. n. on US 15 at 429 Prestwould Dr., overlooking Buggs Island Lake. Built in 1795 by Sir Peyton Skipwith, the plantation house has original furnishings, rare vintage wallpaper and a library. It purportedly contains one of the largest collections of writings from the perspective of enslaved people. Docents conduct tours of the house, restored outbuildings and gardens.
