AAA Editor Notes
Monument Hill and Kreische Brewery State Historic Sites are 1.5 mi. s. on US 77, then .4 mi. w. on Spur 92. A memorial shaft marks a tomb containing the bodies of men murdered by Mexicans in the 1842 Dawson Massacre and members of the ill-fated Mier Expedition of 1843. The park also has the homestead and ruins of a brewery built in the 1860s by German immigrant Heinrich Kreische.

Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted.
