AAA Editor Notes
The Athenaeum of Philadelphia, 219 S. 6th St., is named for Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom. Built in 1847, this three-story Italianate Revival building houses American fine and decorative arts from the first half of the 19th century and a research library and reading room. Changing exhibits can be seen in the first-floor gallery. Guided tours are offered by appointment.
