Sperry Chalet

Sperry Chalet can be reached only by foot or on horseback from Lake McDonald and by foot from the St. Mary Valley via Gunsight and Lincoln passes. In a high, steep hollow at the upper end of a mountain valley, the chalet is hemmed in on three sides by precipitous peaks. Hiking and exploring the Sperry Glacier and fishing in nearby Lake Ellen Wilson are the chief diversions. Mountain goats frequently are seen on the cirque walls, usually during the late afternoon.
