Gateway Arch National Park is on the riverfront at Market St. This 91-acre national park, which covers the site of the original St. Louis settlement, was established in 1935 to commemorate St. Louis' role in the 19th-century westward expansion. The site includes The Gateway Arch, the Museum of Westward Expansion and the Old Courthouse.
