Old Trooper Statue

Old Trooper Statue, on the cavalry parade ground across from the Custer House on Sheridan Ave., is a memorial to the U.S. Cavalry. The statue depicts a horse nicknamed Old Bill and its soldier rider, and is based upon Frederic Remington’s pen and ink sketch “Old Bill.” Chief, the last cavalry horse, died in 1968 and was buried in front of the memorial.
