USDA Forest Service National Headquarters and Information Center

USDA Forest Service National Headquarters and Information Center is at 201 14th St. S.W. in the historic 1878 Yates Federal Building, the “big red brick building” at the corner of 14th Street and Independence Avenue. In the center's exhibit area an animatronic Smokey Bear greets visitors in his office, regaling them with his famous forest fire reminder. The Lodge, modeled after a rustic log cabin interior, contains five informational videos and a “forested” area featuring forest-themed exhibits and a panoramic picture.
