Franklin Canyon Park

Franklin Canyon Park, on Lake Dr. at 2600 Franklin Canyon Dr. n. of Beverly Hills, is a 605-acre wilderness area amid a highly developed suburban neighborhood. Mountaintop trails provide both mountain and city vistas; streamside walks, a 3-acre lake, a wildlife pond and grassy picnic areas also are available. Nature walks and educational programs are offered periodically. Scenes from “The Creature from the Black Lagoon” and “On Golden Pond” as well as the opening scene for “The Andy Griffith Show” were filmed here.

Note: Part of Franklin Canyon Drive is unpaved and can be hazardous in rainy weather.
