Deer Valley Petroglyph Preserve

Deer Valley Petroglyph Preserve is off I-17 exit Deer Valley Road W., then 2 mi. w. to 3711 W. Deer Valley Rd. The 47-acre nature preserve offers a self-guiding tour of the museum, a .25-mile walking trail and a view of more than 1,500 petroglyphs made between 500 and 5,000 years ago. It has the largest concentration of Native American petroglyphs in the Phoenix area. More than 200 native Sonoran Desert plant species can be found as well. Southwest archeology, prehistoric and contemporary indigenous cultures, preservation and desert ecology are other highlights. The preserve is managed by the School of Human Evolution and Social Change at Arizona State University.
